About the Optimised Velocity Crossflow Filter

The OVXF is a high-efficiency patented filtration system using AFM® media. It filters suspended solids down to below 0.45 μm with over 90% efficiency, and requires very low backwash volumes, operating for just 2-4 minutes at a flow rate of 20 to 25 m³/hr/m2.

With the optional ZPM cavitation mixer and a small amount of flocculants, the OVXF Filter can filter down to below 0.01 μm.

By minimising water loss and maintaining a small footprint, the modular system is flexible and can handle flows from 2 m³/h up to over 1,000 m³/h.

 

How the Optimised Velocity Crossflow Filter works 

Our Australian-designed and patented Optimised Velocity Crossflow Filter features a rotating, fluidised upper bed above the flatbed surface. This enhances the removal capabilities of charged media by attracting finer particles and storing partitioned solids in the upper chamber.   

This dispersion of media above the bed attracts fine contamination to form larger denser particles that remain suspended above the bed until the density becomes too high. It then forms a traditional pressure drop across the media, and in turn, initiates less backwash than traditional filters.

AFM® Activated Filter Material

How the Optimised Velocity Crossflow Filter works 

Dryden Aqua manufactures the AFM® Activated Filter Media that we use in our water filters. Resisting biofouling, bio coagulation and more, we utilise the AFM® in place of sand to enhance the performance of filters without additional investments.

Promoting sustainability through recycling for a circular economy, our filters also work to optimise the performance of AFM® by allowing 4-5 times higher water flow throughput and enhanced removal of fine contaminants.

 

Features & Benefits

  • Provide better performance than high-quality silica sand
  • Working well with coagulants and flocculants, the AFM’s high surface negative charge removes dissolved components to sub-micron levels 
  • Stable & predictable performance in freshwater and marine systems
  • Product water will have at least 50% lower chlorine oxidation demand than an equivalent sand filter
  • SDI will be lower with AFM® in comparison to sand filtration
